Trani stone has no single price. The same stone costs 18 euros per square metre bought as pallets of scorza, and 160 when it is picked slab by slab.

The ranges below cover the material that leaves our sawmill in Trani. They are the same ones you find on the flooring and cladding pages, because there is only one source.

The gap between the lowest and the highest figure does not measure the quality of the stone. It measures how much selection and how much work it takes to reach the finished piece.

What moves the figure

Five variables explain almost all the difference between one quotation and another. They are worth checking before you compare two offers, because often the two are not describing the same product.

Variable	How it acts on the price
Surface work	Every extra pass is paid for. Scorza comes out almost as the bed yields it, while honed stone goes back under the heads several times.
Thickness	The catalogue format is 1.2 cm. Above that you need more block to cover the same square metre.
Format	Calibrated slabs cost less than mixed-format chianche, which are worked by hand one at a time.
Quantity	Below a few square metres the cutting weighs more than the material. From a pallet upwards the price per metre falls.
Selection from the bed	Biancone is the lightest and most uniform part of the quarry. Little of it comes out, and that is the reason for its price.

What a whole job comes to

Ranges per square metre say little until you multiply them by a real surface. Four recurring cases, material only:

These are the list ranges multiplied by the metres, with no waste included. A real job adds cutting to size, and on mixed-format laying it is wise to allow a margin.

How we reach the exact figure

To answer with a figure instead of a range we need four things: the square metres, where the stone will be laid, the finish you have in mind and the thickness, if the project prescribes one.

For rough measurements a plan is enough, or even just the dimensions. If you have a photo of the room or a reference you like, that is the quickest way to agree on the finish.

Questions about prices

Why are two quotations for the same stone so different?

Almost always because they do not describe the same product. Thickness, degree of selection or type of finish change, and each of those three moves the price a good deal. When comparing two offers, put thickness, format and finish side by side before the total.

Is it worth buying by the pallet?

For large outdoor surfaces, yes. A pallet of scorza covers about 20 square metres and costs between 220 and 380 euros, the lowest band on the list. For a bathroom or an entrance it makes no sense: there, selection and cutting are what count.

Does a made-to-measure format change the price?

Yes, because cutting to size produces waste and sawmill hours. The 30 cm catalogue format with a thickness of 1.2 cm is the one we keep in stock, and for a given finish it is always the cheapest option.

Do the ranges include laying?

No. They cover the material that leaves the sawmill. Laying is quoted by the firm working on site, and it depends on the substrate, the pattern and the difficulty of the place far more than on the stone.

Do the prices hold outside Puglia?

The material does. Transport is worked out on the destination and the quantity, so it belongs in the quotation rather than the price list. On a full load it adds little per square metre, on a few metres it adds a lot.
