Along with abrasives and water. The arrises wear down, the edges round off and the face, already pre-honed and brushed, becomes soft to the touch. The process is mechanical but the result stays irregular, and no two slabs come out alike.
It also suits spa areas. On steps it works particularly well: the rounded edge does not chip and does not cut, which happens with a sharp stone profile.
Very good, because tumbling has already taken away everything that would have worn off on its own. Among the catalogue finishes it is the one that ages least visibly.
