Bush-hammering pits the face and makes it irregular, chipping takes the sharp arris off the edges, and the final brushing softens the whole. It is the most heavily worked finish in the catalogue, and it reproduces in the workshop an erosion that takes decades in nature.
It works indoors and out. The irregular surface gives grip outside, and the rounded edges make it acceptable barefoot indoors, where full bush-hammering would be uncomfortable.
It starts out aged, so it stays as it is. Scratches and small knocks disappear into the texture instead of adding to a perfect surface.
