In Ostuni pale stone is the material of the built landscape. Here it returns on the terrace, in the sun all day, and on the steps of the internal staircase that links the two levels.
The context
The restoration of an existing building, where the choice of material is also a choice of continuity with the place. On the terrace a surface was needed that would not burn underfoot and would not stain; on the staircase, regular steps cut from the same block.
The work
Terrace paving in large pale slabs, laid in regular courses and carried up to the parapet and the planters. Indoors, steps and risers in pale stone climbing against the whitewashed wall.
